The
Current State of Industries
Mike Riley is the editor of Fabricating & Metalworking
Magazine. He's compiled a list of the 10 industries that lost the
most jobs in 2010, and the 10 industries that gained the most as well.
Click the image at right or the following link to read Mike's article
on
The Current State of Industries.
Believe it or not, Local Government Education was hardest hit, with a
loss of 143,700 jobs. Building Construction lost 38,900 jobs (#9)
and Specialty Trade Contractors (#3) lost 102,100. That's a total of
141,000 jobs lost in construction and specialty trade overall.
All of the research data used to compile these two lists was
sourced from the seasonally-adjusted non-farm payrolls of the U.S. Bureau
of Labor Statistics, from November 2009 through November 2010.
Polyvinyl
Coated Duct | Spiral PCD Duct
Polyvinyl Coated Duct is great for use in situations where an acidic or
caustic environment would corrode metals, and is often used as an alternative to
stainless steel. A primary application is in underground duct and fume
exhaust systems.
How PCD is Made
The PCD manufacturing process begins with (1)
prime, hot-dipped galvanized steel that is cleaned and fire treated.
Then (2) a special epoxy primer is bonded to
both sides of the metal. Finally (3) a
polyvinyl coating is heat-fused to one or both sides.
At ZEN Industries, polyvinyl coating can be fabricated in configurations
of 4 / 4, 4 / 1, and
1 / 4 (outside over inside polyvinyl coating measured in mils).
Benefits of Polyvinyl Coated Duct
With both the inert qualities of plastic and the strength of steel,
PCD duct is:
- Lightweight (10' length X 20" diameter PCD handled easily by one
man).
- Corrosion and weather resistant.
- No chipping, cracking, peeling or release of volatile odors.
- Will not collapse under concrete - strong enough to walk on.
Spiral
PCD Duct
Now ZEN Industries offers Spiral Polyvinyl Coated Duct.
Spiral PCD combines the corrosion resistance of PCD
ductwork with the exceptional qualities of spiral duct. Spiral PCD
is light weight, reducing both manufacturing costs and the costs of
installation.
In use, spiral duct is strong, efficient in reducing leaks, and
resistant to mold.
Spiral duct is not only practical, it's architectural appeal enhances
the look of many buildings in which it is used. Spiral PCD,
therefore is not limited to underground applications.
