Continual Quality and Safety Training

Our Commitment to Employee Training
Delivers a Quality Result for You.

Zen Industries Employee TrainingHVAC duct fabrication is a competitive business. Dedicated fabrication shops fight for market share while even small HVAC installers often bend their own metal.

At ZEN Industries, we know that winning contracts and keeping relationships means maintaining the cutting-edge when it comes to quality and reliability.

One way we work to stay ahead of the curve is through continual training in both performance and safety. On-site instruction helps our employees learn new skills, empowering them to perform safely and confidently while fabricating the widest variety of HVAC duct solutions.

Safety First

Brake Operation Training at ZEN IndustriesTraining at ZEN begins with an understanding of strict safety protocols across a range of devices, from plate rolls and hand brakes to spot welders and plasma tables.

Safety instruction is provided in the proper operation of each individual piece of equipment, and employees are strictly prohibited from operating any device they have not been trained on.

Safety training includes not only the proper operation of each device but also emergency procedures, proper attire while operating the device, and how to recognize potential issues, such as missing or altered safety mechanisms.

Training is documented and signed off on by both the trainer and the trainee.

Plasma Table Training

Plasma Table TrainingFor fast, safe fabrication, ZEN Industries relies on plasma cutting. A plasma torch creates an electric arc in a fast flowing gas, with the arc temperature reaching over 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

Metals from aluminum to stainless steel are cut quickly and cleanly, providing a cleaner separation than can be done with an oxygen-acetylene torch.

In training, our personnel learn that almost any shape imaginable can be programmed into our plasma tables, as ZEN is often called upon to find effective ductwork solutions as well as provide standard duct lengths. Plasma operators learn how to nest the maximum number of pieces and shapes in ways that minimize sheet metal waste and reduce costs.

Each cut piece is affixed with a label which both identifies the pieces and provides instructions for proper seam operations and final assembly.Preparing Sheetmetal for Assembly.

Preparing Sheetmetal for Assembly

ZEN Industries' in-house Training ClassesAs part of their training, ZEN personnel learn approved SMACNA techniques and processes, including beading the metal to reduce and eliminate airflow noise.

Brake operation training includes ZEN Industries’ three brake devices for bending sheet metal. Our 4’, 8’, and 10’ brakes are used in forming sheet metal into duct pieces.

Joining duct pieces includes instruction in various types of seams and locks.

Trainers demonstrate and point out the unique characteristics and differences in Pittsburg Seams, Pittsburg Locks, and Snap Locks (Button Lock).

When specifications call for duct to be insulated with fiberglass liner, lining is cut by hand and secured with glue and weld pins. This helps with both temperature control and noise reduction.
